Let’s talk paint colors. We’re half way into 2019 and getting ready for all of those summer projects. One of the biggest questions we get asked is, what are the best paint colors for 2019? HGTV did an entire section in their latest issue as well as Decor Aid on color. Here are our favorites from these lists.
Neutral Paint Colors
For the neutral paint colors we’re seeing a lot of green and blue undertones. Even though these are usually considered cooler colors, these particular shades (listed below) cast a warm light on these grays, whites and cream colors.
Bright Paint Colors
Misty and icy blues are all the rage this year. This cool and calming color allows for a touch of excitement without being too bold.
Speaking of bold, vibrant mid range blues are also in style this year especially if you live near a coast.
Dark greens are back. Whenever I think of dark green walls, my mind automatically goes to a large house with a dark green study or library. This year we’re seeing dark greens everywhere from the dining room to bathroom cabinets. Think sophisticated hunter green.
Have you noticed more bright yellow front doors popping up around the neighborhood lately? We have. Cheerful and bold, yellow can add a bright spot on an accent wall, a door or even a favorite piece of furniture. We took a bold yellow choice in this Nautical Flag wall art project.
Other yellows in season; try banana cream by Sherwin-Williams for a softer yellow. Or go deep with a mustard yellow (pictured above).
Pink, Coral and Soft Clay
For these colors I like to think of Flamingos. Bright bold pinks are in style right now along with tropical corals and what Pantone is calling “Soft Clay”. Soft Clay is a neutral with some stronger orange and pinkish undertones that call out the tropics.
