Easy Low-Key Quarantine Birthday Ideas

Easy Guide to a Low-Key Quarantine Birthday

Raise your hand if you need easy low-key quarantine birthday ideas! We have all been in quarantine for WAY too long. If you are like me, your birthday fell right in the middle of it. At first I was disappointed that my birthday wouldn’t look the way I had envisioned it at the beginning of the year. Pretty soon, I was able to come up with a plan that included all of my favorite birthday things…cake, ice cream, good food, adventure, and the people I love most. Below are some of things I did, plus a couple of other ideas that will pull off a successful easy, low-key birthday and still socially distanced.

Go On An a Low-Key Adventure

Adventure Quarantine BirthdayYou may not be looking at booking that adventure halfway around the world like you wanted, but let’s talk something a little closer to home and more doable. There are so many reasons to love where you live. We often haven’t explored every thing there is to see in our own backyard. Look up some local hikes or sites that you haven’t been to before. Your birthday is a great excuse to go on an adventure. I wanted to go to the beach for my birthday, but while living in Utah, beaches are a bit harder to come by. So we ventured out to the Great Salt Lake where I was able to dip my toes in the lake for the first time. It was definitely an adventure and a first for me which was a great way to celebrate my birthday.

Birthday Drive-By’s

Drive By Quarantine BirthdayThere are couple of different ways to celebrate your birthday with a drive by. Here is where I got everything shown in this picture, i.e. Gift Bags, Tissue paper, cupcake liners, etc.

  1. Tell all of your family and friends when you’ll be home on your birthday and they can all come drive by your house. Who doesn’t love sitting on your porch and seeing all your favorite people honk and wave as they pass by?
  2. The second way is to hop in the car and drive by all your local family and friends houses and visit them. When my niece’s birthday landed on a Saturday we made treats and had present opening on the porch. We were the last of several stops she had made that day and each stop held a special treat and gift for her. Um, parents, this might just be the best thing ever…I mean everyone else offers the treats and party? Okay, I’m down for that! It was a great way to make her feel special while still socially distancing.

Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

Quarantine Birthday CakeI am a big believer in having cake and ice cream for your birthday. Here’s the recipe for the lemon cake I made this year. Whether or not you love cake or ice cream, we can all agree that a special treat to celebrate a birthday is always fun. For me, it’s not a birthday if there aren’t any songs and candles to blow out. Keeping these traditions alive is important during quarantine so that you don’t feel lost or forgotten. If you are looking for a great service opportunity, look at the next birthday on your calendar and find a way to make them a cake, or send them their favorite treat so they aren’t forgotten and they can still feel loved.

Birthday Decorations

Decorations help any space feel special. If you want to make that special person feel special on their birthday, what better way than to decorate. If you really want everyone on your block to know it’s their birthday, decorate the front porch with balloons, signs and streamers. I won’t tell you how to decorate, but I will tell you to look up all the neat ways people are decorating their homes for birthdays. Here are just a few EASY ideas.

Do What You Love At Home

Your birthday is the perfect excuse to finally do those things you’ve been wanting to do. If you can’t leave the house, you can still spend the day doing those fun things you might feel guilty about any other day of the year. Try out a new recipe, or make your favorite childhood meal, gardening, painting, drawing, playing board games video games, binge watching your favorite show the sky is limit. Take that online dance class you’ve been wanting to try or have that YouTube karaoke party for one. Whatever it is you love to do, your birthday is the day to do it.
